nagasaki part TWO: Nagasaki bombing

We all know of the two nuclear bombings in Japan: Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It is something that is always taught in history class.
My grandmother survived the Nagasaki bombing. She can still remember seeing the mushroom cloud from the bomb. The only thing that saved her from the bomb was a mountain that blocked the area she lived in feom the nuclear bomb. It is crazy to think about—also that if she hadn’t been at home that day, I wouldn’t even be alive right now. Bad times.
Although we may not realize it, what we learn in class isn’t always true and can be biased. I personally do not know what is true, but here’s a comparison of what I’ve learned:
In class I have learned that America strategically bombed Japan so that prople would die, but not too many people. Just enough to get the idea across. In Japan, however, they teach their people that America successfully hit Hiroshima, where the terrain is more flat and would kill more people, but they did not mean to bomb Nagasaki. Nagasaki is full of mountains, so the death toll was not as high. The Japanese believe America was aiming to hit somewhere flatter and more populated. I found it interesting the contrast in what America and Japan teach their people; there are two sides to every story.
